Lorraine Sommerfeldt, MD

Attending Psychiatrist

Dr. Sommerfeldt received her Medical Degree at Rush Medical College, Chicago, Illinois. She completed a Residency in Psychiatry at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. Dr. Sommerfeldt also received a Juris Doctor at Loyola Law School in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Sommerfeldt worked with Associates in Adolescent Psychiatry providing inpatient care at several hospitals in the Chicago area. She also worked with Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center affiliated adult inpatient psychiatric units.

After moving to Texas, Dr. Sommerfeldt worked as the Medial Director for Quest Adult Program, St. Anthony’s Hospital in Amarillo, and then later became Medical Director of Psychiatry at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Other positions included Medical Director of Psychiatry at Canyon Hospital in Canyon, Texas; adult outpatient psychiatrist at Texas Panhandle Centers in Amarillo; and an adult outpatient private practice in Amarillo.

Dr. Sommerfeldt is licensed to practice psychiatry by the State of Texas. Dr. Sommerfeldt currently provides inpatient psychiatric services at Cedar Crest to military personnel with PTSD, substance abuse and other mental health issues.
