Cedar Crest: Services and Programs - RESTORE Eating Disorder
Program
PURPOSE:
This program seeks to RESTORE physical
and emotional health of an individual with an Eating Disorder by addressing
the disorder itself, treating the medical and nutritional needs, educating
the patient and family, and providing therapeutic interventions for psychiatric
or emotional issues that contribute to the disorder.
ELIGIBILITY PROFILE:
- Ages 12 to 17
- An impairment in daily life functioning as a result of maladaptive
eating patterns or compulsive eating behaviors
- Limited progress in prior levels of care such as outpatient therapy and/or
inpatient medical interventions
PHILOSOPHY OF CARE:
The RESTORE Program
seeks to empower an individual to identify and process feelings, to create
adaptive coping skills, and to develop a positive view of self and life.
In order to deliver this type of care our treatment approach is based
on an integrative method that combines aspects from many different types
of therapies.
PROGRAM COMPONENTS:
- Psychiatric assessments and reviews
- Medical consultations and medication management
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Dietician consultations and nutritional education
- Family counseling
and education
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
The RESTORE Program approaches treatment with a multidisciplinary treatment
team that addresses the whole person’s emotional, physical, behavioral,
spiritual, and familial needs. Patients receive therapy through individual
and multiple group sessions. The RESTORE Program encompasses the family
through therapy and educational sessions. The family is a vital component
of treatment and family participation is required.
